Mogadishu (SD) – Somalia’s leading telecommunication company Hormuud telecom has announced a two million dollar donation on Sunday, as part of corporate social responsibility.
According to the company, the funds will support Somali government’s efforts in maintaining the prevention of COVID 19 in the country.
Hormuud donation will also go to help the poor and needy families in the community and will help provide Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan.
“As the number of Covid-19 cases growing in Somalia, Hormuud Foundation has donated $2 million to support the national efforts to contain the virus and to help the poor through Hormuud Foundation Iftar program.” said Hormud
According to the ministry of health, the funds will be used in upgrading key public hospitals to respond to the COVID 19 disease.
Last week the telecom giant provided an extra $1.5m to support Somalia healthcare sector to fight Coronavirus.
