NAIROBI (SD) – According to a post on the X page of Kenya’s Anti-Terrorism Unit, hundreds of SNA (Somali National Army) soldiers have surrendered to the Kenyan forces.
These soldiers crossed the border at Ishakani, an area that lies between Somalia and Kenya.
The soldiers were among the hundreds deployed by the Federal Government of Somalia to Raaskambooni in recent weeks. Jubbaland has claimed full control over Raaskambooni in the Lower Juba region, which had been occupied by Somali Federal forces sent from Mogadishu.
Independent sources confirmed to Allbanaadir Online that Jubbaland forces have completely taken over Raaskambooni.
This development follows several clashes between Somali Federal and Jubbaland forces around Raaskambooni, resulting in casualties on both sides, including deaths and injuries.
Most of the Somali Federal forces that were in Raaskambooni reportedly crossed into Kenya, while some fled to nearby areas.
In a statement, Jubbaland claimed that the Somali Federal forces in Raaskambooni had either been killed, injured, or captured alive.
