Ilhan Omar’s comments deemed un-American by some

MINNEAPOLIS (SD) -Member of the United States House of Representatives from Minnesota, Ilhan Omar, spoke for the first time about the maritime dispute between Somalia and Ethiopia.

Ilhan spoke at an event in Minneapolis to celebrate the re-election of the president of the Puntland state, Said Abdullahi Deni, said that the United States does not support Ethiopia taking land from Somalia.

“The US government will do what we want, nothing else. They must follow our orders. That is how we safeguard the interest of Somalia.” Ilhan Omar.

As long as I am in Congress, Somalia’s waters will not be taken by other people. And the United States does not support other people robbing us.” She added.

She thanked the president of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, for the position he took in this regard.

The agreement reached on the 1st of this month by the self-declared Republic of Somaliland and Ethiopia has created tension between Somalia and Ethiopia.
