GAROWE ( SD) – An Indian warship has captured armed men who recently hijacked a Yemeni fishing boat off the coast of Eyl in the Nugal region.
According to intelligence sources, the Indian warship apprehended eight armed individuals who hijacked the fishing vessel a few days ago.
The hijackers, all from Puntland, attacked an Indian fishing vessel early this morning in waters outside Somalia’s jurisdiction. The Indian vessel called for emergency assistance, prompting the swift response of the warship.
Reports indicate that the hijackers, who had initially seized the Yemeni fishing boat, were attempting another attack on the Indian vessel but were captured instead. The Indian navy has now taken control of the rescued fishing boat.
