GAROWE (SD) – The ISIS group launched an attack on Tuesday, beginning with explosions, targeting a Puntland Defense Forces base. All 12 attackers, who were foreigners, were killed at the attack site.
In a statement, ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack in the Bari region of Puntland, asserting that the assault was carried out by their members, resulting in the deaths of over 20 Puntland soldiers.
Puntland security forces stated that they thwarted and repelled the ISIS attack, with Puntland military officials confirming the elimination of the attackers, who were all foreigners, while others among the attackers blew themselves up.
ISIS released photos and names of the attackers, identifying them as foreigners from Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Morocco, Libya, Yemen, Tunisia, and Ethiopia.
This attack by the foreign ISIS members coincides with Puntland security forces preparing for a large-scale operation aimed at eradicating ISIS militants in the mountains of the Bari region.
