MOGADISHU (SD) -A joint operation carried out by the Somali National Army and the United States targeted a high-ranking Al-Shabaab commander in the Middle Juba region. The operation resulted in the death of the commander, who was reportedly leading Al-Shabaab’s insurgency.

“This is another step that the Somali National Army, in collaboration with the United States, has taken in the fight against the extremist group, addressing the ongoing threat to the peace and progress of the Somali people and the region,” according to a statement from the Somali government.
