DOLOW (SD) – A brief conflict took place today in the normally peaceful town of Doolow in the Gedo region. Reports from Dolow district in the Gedo region, under the Jubaland administration, indicate that a clash occurred today, Monday, between Jubaland’s Darwish forces and the federal government forces.
Reports suggest that a plane from Kismayo, carrying the governor of Gedo appointed by the Jubaland administration, ministers, and other officials, landed at Dolow airport. Upon arrival, NISA forces stationed there tried to prevent their entry, leading to a brief conflict in Doolow.
Vice President of Jubaland, Mahamud Adan Sayid, is present in Dolow, as are Ethiopian forces operating under the name ATMIS.
The clash resulted in NISA forces withdrawing from the airport area in Dolow.
The confrontation caused casualties, including deaths and injuries on both sides.
Since the failure of the government’s operation in Ras Kamboni, the focus has shifted to Gedo region, where support from Kismayo is significantly diminished.
