Kenya names new consul to Somaliland

HARGEISA (SD) – Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed a new Representative to Hargeisa, the capital of the Republic of Somaliland.

Last year, the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent four officials, including Benson Mwaliko, to Hargeisa, naming them heads of bilateral relations.

Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Benson Mwaliko as Kenya’s head of Consular Office in Hargeisa.

The appointment come as Kenyan Foreign Minister Raychelle Omamo recently announced that Kenya would deal with Somaliland as part of the Somali Federal Government.

Reports indicate that about 10,000 Kenyans live and work in Somaliland.
