Nairobi October 02, 2023 (SD) – The Minister of Defense of the Kenyan government, Adan Barre Duale, warned individuals providing financial support to the Al-Shabaab group in Somalia.

The Kenyan Defense Minister has stated that Al-Shabaab has escalated its activities that pose a threat to Kenya, indicating that efforts will be made to strengthen the country’s security against the terrorist group.

Duale emphasized that security forces will work diligently to prevent Al-Shabaab from destabilizing the peace in Kenya and also highlighted their intention to track down their financiers in Somalia.

He mentioned that the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, has pledged to support the Kenyan government in combating terrorism in the region, following his first visit to the region.

Adan Barre’s remarks come as Al-Shabaab has recently increased its attacks within Kenya, particularly in regions bordering Somalia.
