Kismayo December 25, 2022 (SD) – The President of Jubbaland State, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, today received Kenyan Defense Minister Aden Barre Duale in Kismayo.

Mister Duale is said to be in Jubaland to visit Kenyan forces, who are part of ATMIS, the African troops.

The officials reportedly discussed operations to remove Al-Shabaab from Jubaland regions and the Kenyan forces’ role in the move.

The President and the Minister also discussed how to work together on border security during the operations against Al Shabaab.

Many Somalis are not satisfied with the stated objectives and activities of the Kenyan troops in Somalia.

Some experts believe that the ATMIS and other foreign troops in the country are an obstacle to building a peace-making Somali army.
