Mogadishu October 04, 2022 (SD) – Heavy fighting between the Liyuu police forces of the Somali regional government of Ethiopia and Al Shabaab fighters took place in areas of the Bakool region on the border with Ethiopia.

According to locals, a fierce battle between the Liyuu police and the militants took place in the village of Quracle under Washaqo area of Bakool region.

Al Shabaab affiliated media reported that ten policemen were killed in the fighting in Bakool region.

The Somali regional government of Ethiopia and those of Bakool region of the South West administration did not comment on the fierce fighting that took place today at the border areas between Somalia and Ethiopia.

Al Shabaab and the Liyuu police forces had a bloody battles months ago inside Ethiopia as well as parts of the Bakool region, with both sides suffering massive casualties in the war.
