Abudwaq (SD) – Abudwaq district police commander in Galgadud region Farhan Hussein Hassan who spoke to the media confirmed, after a lengthy investigations, they arrested the man who raped and killed a pregnant woman on the outskirts of Abudwaq.

The commander said they followed the footprints of the man who committed the crime and arrested him at his home.

“He took off his shoes and tried to erase his footprints, and then entered his mother’s house, we followed his footsteps, to his mother’s house, and we finally managed to apprehend him,” said the district police commander.

The district commander added that the perpetrator’s relatives have been involved in the investigation and he would now be brought to justice.
The body of Ubah Mohamed Yahye, who was three months pregnant, was found murdered on the outskirts of Abudwaq district, and her relatives said she had been raped before the killing.

In recent years there has been an increase in the number of rapes and killings of women in Somalia, most recently in the towns of Abudwaq, Galkayo, Burao, Bossaso, Garowe, Belet Xaawo, Luuq, Mogadishu, and other towns.
