MOGADISHU (SD) -Huge explosions were heard last night in various parts of Mogadishu, with different reports emerging regarding the incidents.
The areas where the explosions were heard include the districts of Xamar Weyne, Boondheere, Warta Nabada, and Yaaqshiid, according to initial reports.
Some reports indicate that mortar shells caused the explosions, while security sources suggest that the explosions were homemade devices aimed at disrupting security.
The explosions were reported in houses in the densely populated neighborhood of Xamar Weyne district, near the Hooyooyinka Hospital.
Videos posted on social media show significant damage to several houses, although no casualties have been reported so far.
Security forces are conducting efforts to trace the source of the mortar shells, which are believed to be launched by Al-Shabaab, known for such attacks.
