Beijing (SD) -Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, has announced that the mutual agreement between the Somaliland administration and the Ethiopian government will soon be implemented and is in the process of being finalized.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed made this announcement during a special meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. They discussed the agreement signed on January 1st this year between Somaliland and Ethiopia, with Abiy confirming that the agreement is in progress and will soon be completed.
Additionally, as confirmed by reliable sources, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud declined to meet with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in Beijing.
The memorandum of agreement between Somaliland and Ethiopia stipulates that Ethiopia will lease 20 kilometers of Somaliland’s coastline to establish a naval base. In return, Ethiopia will become the first country to officially recognize the Somaliland administration’s independence.
