Minister Muumin Seed: I asked President Bihi to release Oldon

Hargeisa (SD) – Reports from Hargeisa indicate that journalist Abdimalik Muse Oldon, who is currently serving a three year sentence is about to be released soon.

Sources close to Somaliland officials who are aware of the situation told somalidispatch.com that the journalist will be released sooner rather then later.

On the other hand, Somaliland minister of agriculture Adan Mumin Seed, tweeted that he Spoke with President Bihi about releasing Mr. Oldon, but he is not released yet, adding, we expect he will be released soon.

International organizations, the EU  as well as prominent Somalilanders have called on the Somaliland president Muse Bihi Abdi to release the Journalist turned social worker.

It’s not the first Abdimalik Muse Oldon was arrested, the previous Kulmiye regime also arrested him in 2017, for visiting the Somali president Farmajo, and staunch rival of Somaliland and the journalist declared his support for Somalia unity, a crime in Somaliland.

Oldon is current convicted of defaming the president of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi, a flimsy charge according to freedom speech advocates.
