Mogadishu blasts kills one, leaves three others injured

MOGADISHU (SD) – At least one person was killed and three others sustained injuries after their car ran over a landmine suspected to have been planted on the side in Somali capital, Mogadishu.

The bomb blast targeted a COVID-19 pandemic awareness team in the Karaan district of Mogadishu.

According to the police, the blast killed the driver and wounded three other occupants including two security personnel escorting the team.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

The attack comes barely a day after several people were injured in motor shell attack on Halane base which houses UN personnel and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMSIOM).

In a statement, UN condemned the attack but confirmed that no UN personnel was injured.

Without mentioning number of injured people who were they, UN wished quick recoveries to those who sustained injuries.
