Hargeisa (SD) – -The outgoing President of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi delivered a speech today in the city of Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, addressing issues related to the conflict in Las Anod, and the state of democracy in Somaliland.
Muse Bihi strongly criticized SSC-KHAATUMO and the Puntland regional administration, referring to them as adversaries of Somaliland.
He also made it clear that they would not accept any conditions for reconciliation in which Somaliland’s sovereignty is challenged, and that they would take strong measures against any provocations from any party.
President Bihi also accused Puntland of acting aggressively and seeking territorial expansion through tribalism.
The outgoing president, in his speech, expressed doubts about democracy and the recent agreement on the long overdue presidential elections, claiming that the elections pose political and financial challenges to Somaliland.
Adding Somaliland is at war and that ever political party should only concentrate on defending the country. Accusing those interested in elections and seeking change as tribalistic and divisive.
Muse Bihi went on to praise a newly formed tribal militias, he said were organized to defend Somaliland failing to acknowledge efforts made by the Somaliland military in this regard.
This marks the second unhinged public appearance of President Muse Bihi since Somaliland troops were ousted from Las Anod on August 25th of this year.
