WASHINGTON (SD) – The Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi and an accompanying delegation on a visit to the United States today met with members of the US Senate.
The President met with U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee for Africa, and fellow Senator Adam Smith, Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee, according to a statement issued by the Somaliland Presidency.
The meeting, held at the US Capitol on Capital Hill, was hosted by Senator Chris Van Hollen, honoring President of Somaliland and his delegation.
Bihi, meanwhile, met with Lawmaker Adam Smith at Capital Hill, where he received the president’s delegation at his office.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and security in the Horn of Africa region, in particular security cooperation between Somaliland and the United States.
President Bihi on a 10 day visit to the US has previously met with US Defense Department officials.
