NISA captures Al Shabab suspects with explosives in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (SD)-The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) of Somalia has arrested members of Al-Shabaab in Mogadishu who were carrying explosive devices.

The detained individuals, consisting of four men, were reportedly carrying mines intended for use in planned bombings, according to a statement released by NISA.

“The forces of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) conducted an operation in Mogadishu, capturing four terrorists from the Khawarij group who were carrying mines they planned to use to harm the Somali people,” the statement said.

NISA also published photos of the captured individuals and the mines, though they did not provide further details.

The Somali security forces have heightened security measures in Mogadishu since the attack on Lido Beach on Friday night, which involved both bombings and direct assaults, resulting in nearly 40 deaths and approximately 200 injuries among civilians.
