Mogadishu January 09, 2023 (SD) – A statement released by the Somali Ministry of Information announced that a planned operation has killed 61 members of Al-Shabaab.

The operation, carried out by the Somali National Security Forces with the assistance of international partners, took place in the fields near Xawaadlay in the Middle Shabelle region.

The statement claimed that the operation targeted approximately 150 militants who were planning to attack government forces in the Xawaadley area.

The operation, carried out by the NISA forces, also reportedly destroyed two vehicles, a Humvee and a Noah, that were loaded with explosives and intended to be brought into the capital, Mogadishu.
