NISA warns PM Roble and Pres. Farmajo about assassination plot

MOGADISHU (SD) A statement from the Somali Federal Government’s National Intelligence Service (NISA) late last night said it had received information that Al Shabaab was targeting Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble.

A statement posted on NISA’s Twitter account said the information was shared with both the president and the prime minister.

The intelligence agency has named a member of al-Shabaab to be a culprit and that the agency is pursuing him.

“We have provided information to the national leadership on the threat posed by Al-Shabaab to the President and Prime Minister.” the NISA statement said.

Adding “Mohamed Mahir, a senior al-Shabaab member, is in charged of the plan. We are monitoring anyone involved”.

This comes as Prime Minister Roble shared a security threat with the media a few days ago, telling the media that he has received threatening messages.
