No rescission of previous decisions by dispute committee – gov’t

MOGADISHU (SD) – The decisions reached by Somalia’s dispute resolution committee to validate disputed parliamentary seats will not be rescinded, Somali spokesperson co firmed Sunday.

In a statement, Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimu has ruled out annulment of previous ruling to clear grievances related to election irregularities tabled by Some candidates.

Among the decision reached by the committee was the validation the election of Somali Intel chief Yasin Farey as MP following complaints by some of the candidates.

The opposition urged the government to the annulment of decisions made the Electoral Disputes Committee.

Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein on Saturday sacked seven members of the Dispute Resolution Committee including the body’s chairperson.

According to the office of the PM, the members were sacked for failing to uphold their independence and for using their position for purposes outside the responsibility entrusted with them.
