Norway jails two Somali sisters who joined Daesh

Oslo March 30, 2023 (SD) – The Norwegian government has announced that it has imprisoned two Somali sisters who recently arrived from Syria with their children.

The sisters, who have been identified as Ayan and Leila Juma, and their three children, were reportedly discovered to have joined the terrorist organization ISIS.

Norway stated that it has repatriated the two sisters, both Somali Norwegians and their children, who were found in a refugee camp in Syria, citing their dire situation.

The Norwegian Somali sisters left Norway in 2013 as teenagers to join the uprising against President Bishar Al-Assad. They are now 29 and 25 years old.

According to the Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang, the three children were born in the conflict zones and are six, thirteen, and fifteen years old.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt said the sisters asked for help to return to Norway with their children, knowing they would face arrest upon arrival.
