Bossaso March 30, 2023 (SD) – The news report indicate that the Puntland Defense Forces, specifically the Onkod unit 7, have encountered and engaged with several militants belonging to the terrorist group known as Daesh or ISIS, attempting to establish bases in the Calmadow area of Bari region.

According to a statement from the Puntland Defense Forces, several Daesh bases were attacked and destroyed.

“The Onkod unit of the Puntland Defense Forces based in Balidhidin district of Bari region targeted and destroyed several bases of the Daesh terrorist group operating in the Calmadow mountains of Bari region,” the statement said.

The Puntland Defense Forces also reported that they inflicted losses on the Daesh militants.

“The Daesh militants suffered losses in personnel and equipment, including heavy weapons and small arms,” the statement said.

The Puntland Defense Forces have been engaged in fierce battles with Daesh and Al-Shabaab militants in the Golis and Cali Miskaad areas of the Sanaag and Bari regions.
