MOGADISHU (SD) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, met with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Operational Support, Atul Khare, in his office. During their meeting, they discussed strengthening the cooperation between Somalia and the United Nations, particularly in the areas of security and technical support provided by the UN to the Somali government.
The discussion focused on bolstering the security transition as Somali forces prepare to take over areas vacated by the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), as well as preparing for the new AUSSOM mission.
Atul Khare expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the warm reception and congratulated Somalia on securing a seat in the United Nations Security Council. He wished Somalia success in contributing to peace and development both in the region and globally.
