PM Roble and Opposition candidate Abdirahman Abdishakur discuss elections

Mogadishu (SD) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble has today received at his office the Leader of the Wadajir Party Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame.

The Prime Minister and the Leader of the Wadajir Party discussed the holding of transparent and peaceful elections, resolving electoral concerns and ensuring that all political parties be accountable for the stability of the country, and refrain from any statements or actions that offend the people of Somalia.

Prime Minister Roble reaffirmed his readiness to sit down with all politicians and election stakeholders in the country, to listen to their suggestions, and to move forward with the holding of a general election.

Abdirahman Abdishakur posted a statement on his Facebook page saying that he and the Prime Minister had discussed elections concerns.

“We had a meeting today in his office with the Prime Minister of the Federal Government, His Excellency Mohamed Hussein Roble. We discussed electoral concerns with the commissions, the issue of Somaliland and Gedo.

He pledged his commitment to resolving concerns and ensuring a peaceful and transparent election. We also discussed freedom for election campaign, including public gatherings and demonstrations and working together for the stability of the country, ”said Abdirahman Abdishakur.

Abdirahman Abdishakur is a member of the Somali presidential candidates’ union who strongly opposes the federal government’s implementation of the country’s electoral process, and is said to have represented them at the meeting.
