PM Roble officially takes office, and vows to combat sexual violence against women children

Mogadishu (SD) – The new Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia HE Mohamed Hussein Roble officially took office today in a ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s Office, following a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on the 23rd of this month.

Acting Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled reported on the important work the cabinet achieved, and wished the new Prime Minister success in his difficult task of serving the people and nation of Somalia.

“Much progress has been made in Interior and Foreign Affairs, Security, Justice, Education, Health, Economy, Reconciliation, Constitutional Review, Improving the Registration of Civil Servants and Armed Forces.” Said former PM Mahdi Guled.

Prime Minister Roble commended the Acting Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled and the incumbent members of the Council of Ministers for their hard work over the past three and a half years. He also thanked the House of Representatives for their confidence.

The Prime Minister highlighted the priorities of his Government, including security, elections, economic development, justice and social services.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that he will appoint a legal expert to investigate and monitor sexual violence against women and children, in collaboration with the country’s judiciary.
