Hargeisa (SD) – President of the Somali Region of Ethiopia, Mustafe Omar Agjar, spoke with Somaliland President Muse Bihi in releasing of Journalist Abdimalik Oldon.
A statement from President Agjar’s office also said that the two presidents discussed the prevention of Covid-19.
“I communicated with President Musa Bihi, together we discussed security issues and how to cooperate in preventing the spread of Covid19 and establish a better cross border cooperation in preventing the spread of disease.” Said president Agjar.
President Agjar also mentioned his request to President Bihi in releasing Abdimalik Oldon.
We have also discussed with the president, on the issue of Abdimalik Oldon, and we are very grateful for the President’s consideration of our government’s request,” said Mr. Agjar.
A court in Hargeisa in 2019 has sentenced journalist Abdimalik Muse Oldon to three years in jail for allegedly insulting Somaliland President and Abarso School.
Neither the Somaliland Government nor The Somali Regional state clarified whether the request is or will be granted.
Its worth noting Somaliland President recently released hundreds of conflicted hardcore criminals and Oldon is still languishing in prison.
