President Bihi tells commissioners which elections to hold first

Hargeisa September 08,2022 (SD) – Somaliland’s Supreme Court Chairman, Adan Haji Ahmed, sworn in the remaining three members of the National Electoral Commission in front of President Muse Bihi.

The three remaining Commissioners were confirmed by the House of Representatives yesterday

President Muse Bihi Abdi told the members of the electoral commission that they have two elections to implement in the near future., but instructed them to hold the political registration elections first.

The President addressing the new commissionaires said: “There are two elections that you are going to hold, firstly the parties, then the top three national parties will compete for the presidential elections.”

Adding “But it is not possible nor fair to say to the newly registered organizations, that they will not be part of the presidential elections and have to wait after the presidential elections is held, which is not in accordance with our laws.”

Finally, President Bihi, told the members of the commission that he is standing by their sides as the president, and will give his full support to everything they need of him.

President Muse Bihi comments at the commissioner’s swearing in were flagrant constitutional and electoral a law violation, be it in front of the Supreme Court Chairman, a staunch supporter of the president.
