Dubai (SD) – Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni, is visiting Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is scheduled to meet with top officials of DP World, the operates the Port of Bossaso.

President Deni, who has been in the Kenyan capital Nairobi for several days, has left for the United Arab Emirates, where he will meet with DP World officials.

Puntland President Abdirahman Mohamed Farole is expected to hold talks with DP World officials on the issue of Bossaso Port, which has been inactive for some time.

DP World, took over the Port of Bossaso on an agreement signed on April 6, 2017, which was approved by the Puntland Parliament on July 27 of the same year.

Former Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas and DP World CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Suleiman, signed the agreement that DP World would operate the Port of Bossaso for 30 years.

The terms of the agreement were that within two years, the company would expand and modernize the port, increasing it to 450 meters in width, at a cost of $ 336 million.

The contract period for the construction of the Port ended on April 6, 2019, with no work being done on the construction and expansion of Bossaso Port.

It is noteworthy that on February 4, 2019 in Bossaso, the head of P&O Ports, DP World in charge of Bossaso Port, was killed by Al-Shabaab.

On April 15, 2019, President Deni traveled to Dubai where he met with DP World CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Suleiman, who pledged to speed up the construction of the port.

However, a year and six months later DP World did not fulfill that promise, which is why President Deni wants to meet with officials of DP World, to discuss the matter.

  1. Said Abdullahi Deni is most probably using the meeting with DP World only as a cover. He recently met the Somalia UAE ambassador who is holed in Nairobi in the past four years after he fell out with Mogadishu when he was caught in Aden Cadde International airport with sacks of cash to influence our last election.
Now that new election is taking place in Somalia in November, the UAE government is again meddling in the affairs of Somalia; someone has to search the luggage of Deni as this man and the so-caĺled former presidents of Somalia are destabilizing our country at any cost.
If there is a lot of free Arab oil money available in the market, it must be the election season in Somalia. Foreign countries are competing to install their own traitor in Villa Somalia. We kow that nothing good ever comes out of Puntland/Majeertiinya; let the races begin!
