Garowe (SD) – Puntland Regional State President Said Abdullahi Deni, today opened the 48th Session of the Puntland House of Representatives.

President Said Abdullahi Deni addressed the parliament today on the Bossaso port DP World agreement.

President Deni, said talks are underway on the implementation of the April 6, 2017 Bossaso port development agreement with DP World.

The President indicated that they will announce the outcome of the negotiations with the DP World agreement, following the conclusion of the negotiations.

Lawmakers argue that the deadline for implementing the DP World agreement was two years from the date it was signed on April 6, 2017, but four years later they have not implemented the agreement, so they should nullify the agreement.

Meanwhile, lawmakers in support of President Deni believe that the government should handle agreement, since it is the job of the executive branch.

The Emirati company, DP World, has entered into agreements with Somaliland and the regional state of Puntland, which have been disputed by the Somali central government.
