Mogadishu (SD) – Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni says he has not yet been officially invited to the conference called by the Federal Somali president, adding the security is no longer reliable.
The Puntland President made the remarks in an interview with the BBC Somali Service today.
“We have come here at the invitation of the international community, particularly James Swan and Yama Moto, who have been working to bring the parties together since the end of the term of the Federal Constitutional Institutions,” he said. says Deni in an interview with the BBC Somali Service.
Deni spoke about his meetings with what he calls political stakeholder in Mogadishu “”During our stay we have held talks with the international community and other Somalis, most notably the former presidents who are now united in the Union of Candidates.”
Adding “During our stay in Mogadishu the government did not talk to us and it seemed they were not ready for our arrival.”
President Deni responding to if he plans to attend tomorrow’s conference said “There were no official invitations and that we only heard about it on social media”.
The Puntland President added “ aside from participating a conference, we were let to believe our residence were save and AMISOM was to secure it, however, troops were deployed to our area last night, reminding us of the September 19, 2020 incident.”
President Deni told the BBC that the international community should come to the aid of Somalia and help ensure the security of the country prior to any election decisions.
