ANKARA (SD) – Turkish President Erdogan stated that oil and natural gas resources are abundant off the coast of Somalia.

During a speech he delivered to his country’s parliament, the President discussed the successes achieved by the Turkish oil exploration ship operating in Somalia.

“Explorations conducted in the Somali waters have revealed abundant resources, and our explorers have informed us that Somalia could become a global leader in oil production,” Erdogan said.

Moreover, the President mentioned that if these resources are extracted, they would not only benefit Somalia but also significantly contribute to Turkey’s economic growth.

Turkey has sent survey and exploration ships to Somalia’s coast, which have so far produced promising preliminary reports.
