Mogadishu (SD) – The President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo tonight called for a meeting of the heads of federal member states and the governor of Banadir region in order to discuss the completion of the election process.
“The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, has called for a meeting of Heads of member States and Governor of Banadir on electoral issues. The conference is to open on February 15 in Garowe, Puntland State of Somalia. The conference is to focus on the implementation of the agreement reached by the National Consultative Council in Mogadishu on 17 September 2020.” said an statement from Villa Somalia.
The statement from the presidency added that the Federal Government will continue to strengthen efforts to implement elections and to critically discuss the issues regarding the election.
The announcement came after a meeting between the President and the Speaker of Parliament today, discussing election issues.
Somali Member State leaders have so far not responded to President Farmajo’s request for a conference in Garowe.
