President Farmajo congratulates Somalis on the occasion of Flag Day

Mogadishu (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, who congratulated the people of Somalia on the occasion of Flag Day on October 12th, prayed to for mercy on all the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sake of Somalia and the unity of the Somali people.

The President pointed out that the people of Somalia have sacrificed their lives and money to achieve their national aspirations and to be at the forefront of free nations and countries with a flag and a sovereign land.

“Today is a great day. It coincides with the erection of the Somali flag 66 years ago as a symbol of the nationhood, independence, unity and solidarity of the Somali people who have long struggled for their independence and sovereignty.”

President Farmajo, called on the Somali people to unite to strengthen their government, while turning their backs on terrorist groups that threaten the country’s security.

Somalia has in the past 30 years of violence still struggling to retain a peaceful functioning government.
