Mogadishu (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, last night held a ceremony at the Presidential Palace marking the 61st anniversary of the independence and Unity of the Southern and the Northern territories on July 1st 1960.
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, saluted units of the Somali National Army, hoisted the National Flag at the Presidential palace, where the Independence and Unity Day celebrations were held last night.
The President congratulated all Somalis on this momentous day of independence, unity and governance for the Somali people who have sacrificed their lives and resources to achieve a nation that reflects their vision and aspirations.
A grand ceremony to mark July 1st is set to take place in Mogadishu today with the participation of the country’s top leaders and community members.
