MOGADISHU (SD) – Somali police officers in Mogadishu have arrested six people who allegedly robbed business centres and the public.
Among those arrested is one of two suspects who were captured by CCTV camera while robbing a phone shop. the CCTV clip showed men entering the phone shop before one of them brandishes a pistol.
The pistol-carrying man was instructing the shopkeeper to lie on the floor while his co-conspirator picks 19 phones including 15 iPhones from the shelves into a bag.
Speaking to the media, Police spokesman Sadiq Adan said police officers launched operations to hunt down robbers after dozens of cases were booked at different police station in the capital.
According to the spokesperson, other suspects were arrested tipped off by the members of the public in parts of the capital.
Somali police have called on the public to remain vigilant and report such cases to police posts near their areas.
