Mogadishu January 04, 2023 (SD) – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today met with the Ambassadors of several countries and the Special Representatives of the United Nations, the European and African Union in Mogadishu, briefing them on the achievements of his government in the war against Al-Shabaab.
The president noted that the Somali forces and local militias cleared Al Shabaab from many areas in the Lower Shabelle, Hiraan and Galgadud regions, demonstrating his government’s determination in ridding the country of Al Shabaab.
Hassan Sheikh urged the representatives of the international community to help Somalia with the campaign to lift the arms embargo on the war-torn country which is important in the war against terrorism.
The representatives of the international community reportedly praised the operations to liberate the country and pointed out that they stand with the people and the government of Somalia, particularly the emergency aid needed by the people in the liberated areas.
