Garowe January 04, 2023 (SD) – The Puntland Minister of Information, Eng. Mohamud Aideed Dirir who spoke to the media in Garowe today dismissed the appointment of a new Khatumo leadership by elders of the Sool Sanaag and Cayn, adding similar efforts failed before.

Eng. Aideed said the action taken by the elders is to thwart the liberation of Sool. The Minster added Sool does not now need a new administration but rather needs liberation.

The comments come at a time when recent deadly clashes between Protesters in Laascaanood faced off with Somaliland government forces, the forces are accused of killing up to 20 in Lasanod.

Some in Sool, Sanaag and Eyn believe in establishing a regional state for the disputed region lies in their best interest.
