DHUSAMAREB (SD) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is visiting Galmudug State, outlined his priorities for decentralization, strengthening democracy and reconciliation for the Somali people.
The president said that the biggest challenge that the Somali people are currently facing include, the insecurity and the brutal acts perpetrated by Al-Shabaab terrorists, highlighting how the Somali people and their government stand today to liberate the country together.
“”We want the Somali citizen to sleep peacefully at their homes every night. When he travels and walks along the road, we want them not to ask themselves when would a landmine explode, we want kids not to wonder if their mother is coming back safe?'” the president told Galmudug leaders.
The new president underlined that his government will launch an offensive against al-Shabaab and will liberate the Somali people, and called on Galmudug State to take the lead in that plan.
“We want Galmudug to start a peace liberation project for the country, and then others to follow suit.” says the president.
Somalia’s new federal president Hassan Mohamud is touring the Galmudug state after visiting the South West.
