Mogadishu April 01, 2023 (SD) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has appointed Abdikarim Hussein Guled as the Special Envoy for Somaliland Affairs.

President Hassan Sheikh emphasized that the Federal Government is committed to ensuring the unity and integration of the Somali people, and therefore requires sharing opinions, consultations, negotiations, and finding solutions to the ongoing issues in the northern regions of Somaliland.

Abdikarim Hussein Guled has significant experience in reconciliation, resolving conflicts, and bridging the gaps between the Federal Government of Somalia and Somaliland.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has directed the Special Envoy to work diligently towards finding a way to bring the Federal Government of Somalia and Somaliland to the negotiating table and to pursue his mandate in tackling the obstacles that have hindered the talks.
