BRUSSELS-The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, gave a speech at the European Union’s Gateway Forum held in the city of Brussels, Belgium.

President Hassan Sheikh discussed the importance of converting the European Union’s humanitarian aid to development and investment projects to increase the country’s economic growth.

He stated, “Since July 2022, the Somali Security Forces have successfully liberated more than 80 districts from the grip of Al Shabaab. Cities like Xarardheere” The President went on to mention, “We have recently resumed quality education after a hiatus of ten years, during which we invested in schools and teachers. Children now have new opportunities for a brighter and more prosperous future.”

While in Brussels, the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia is expected to hold various meetings with key participants from the European Union and developing countries.
