Presidential Envoy for Somaliland: Somalia still interested in Unification

MOGADISHU (sd) -The Somali Presidential Envoy for Somaliland Affairs, Abdikarim Hussein Guled, has stated that the government is committed to achieving the unity of the country and ensuring the well-being of all citizens.

He mentioned that there have been no significant changes in the political stance of the Federal Government of Somalia regarding negotiations with Somaliland.

The Presidential Envoy emphasized that the unity of the people can help address the challenges in the development of society and the establishment of statehood.

He stressed that the Federal Government of Somalia is determined to prioritize issues related to education, security, and national unity, and it is essential to coordinate efforts to address these tasks.

Recently, the Somali government officially recognized the leadership of SSC-Khaatumo, which was previously a part of Somaliland, before the tensions in the city of Las Anod last year.

Somaliland has reacted negatively to the Somali government’s recognition of SSC-Khatumo and stated that this move could hinder the relations between the Somali government and Somaliland.
