Asmara October 09, 2023 (SD) – President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is on a visit to Eritrea, today met with Somali Naval and land troops being trained there.

Hassan, in briefings by military commanders, was given details about the soldiers’ morale, discipline, and the progress they had made during their training period.

The President urged the troops to be prepared to join other troops fighting against Al-Shabaab.

The President’s visit to Eritrea also aims to strengthen the relationship between the two countries, promote defense cooperation, and secure peace, stability, and the development of the region, as stated in a statement issued by Villa Somalia.

Eritrea has not deployed troops to Somalia but is actively involved in training Somali forces, and there are still troops receiving training in that country.
