Addis Ababa (SD) – Tens of thousands of people have gathered in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, to show support for the government in its fight against a coalition of rebel forces in the north of the country.
The Addis Ababa administration has organized the rallies as rebel forces continue fighting and approaching the capital.
Meanwhile, thousands of Jigjiga residents gathered in the center of Jigjiga, carrying placards with slogans in support of the country’s national defense forces and local elections, while similarly condemning the TPLF.
The mayor of Jigjiga, Abdifatah Ibrahim, and the governor of Faafan region, Abdihakim Sheikh, told the protesters that the TPLF is a terrorist group that caused great damage to the region and the country.
“We do not accept the return of the group that humiliated us yesterday and harassed us. We warn those who are supporters of the TPLF and are spreading false information on social media.” said the governor of Faafan province.
Organized demonstrations have taken place in other Ethiopian major cities today.
