Puntland Cuts Office of Human Rights Defender’s budget

GAROWE (SD) – The Chairman of Puntland’s Human Rights Defender Said Abdi Mumin says their constitutional budget has been cut.

The Chairman attributed the budget cut to President Deni’s attempt to cripple the work of the office of the Human Rights.

He added that they have already submitted the complaint to all relevant agencies, now are now waiting for Puntland Parliament’s response on their complaint.

The Government and the President of Puntland have not responded to the alleged hampering of Puntland’s Human Rights Defender.

The Office of the Puntland Human Rights Defender investigates citizen complaints, advocates for victims whose human rights are violated and produces annual reports on the human rights situation in Puntland.
