GAROWE (SD) – Somalia’s Federal President Hassan Sheikh arrived in Garowe, where he was welcomed by Puntland State President, Said Abdullahi Deni, his deputy and others.

The President’s delegation includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abshir Omar Huruuse and the Minister of State for the National Presidency Abshir Mohamed Ahmed (Bukhari), the Presidential Advisers on Federal Affairs Ahmed Abbas Ahmed, the Constitution Abdurrahman Abdullahi Badiyow, the Prime Minister’s Adviser for Reconciliation Mr. Ali Abdi Aware and Deputy Director of the Presidency Mohamed Amin Sheikh Osman.

After the President’s arrival, the two Presidents did not speak to the media, and proceeded directly to the presidential palace, where they are expected to have a private meeting.

It is the first visit of the president of Somalia to Puntland since he was elected to a second non-consecutive term to office in the middle of May this year 2022.

The Federal President’s trip is believed to address concerns of the President of Puntland following the presidential election, were he lobbied for the PM’ job.
