Bossaso (SD) – Puntland security forces have seized weapons in an operation conducted today in parts of Bossaso, the capital of Bari region.

The planned military operation was carried out in several neighborhoods in the town, which is a commercial hub for Puntland.

The purpose of the operation was to ensure security in Bossaso ahead of the upcoming elections for the lower house of the Somali parliament.

According to reports, the forces seized a large quantity of illegal weapons in Bossaso during the search.

Bari Regional Police Commander Colonel Hussein Ali Mohamud told the media that the weapons were seized after receiving information from the public.

Bari Regional Commander Colonel Hussein Ali Mohamud thanked the public for their co-operation with the regional state’s security forces.
