Puntland forces shot dead second person in two days

GAROWE (SD) – A  maritime police officer killed a colleague in Puntland state following alternation in outskirts of Garowe town, the second murder in the city since Monday.

Speaking to the media, Nugal Regional Police commander, Mohamed Aden Jama said Bootan Mohamed Owl who was attached to a station in Bosaso town of Bari region was killed by a fellow police officer in Lanta-Hawad locality east of Garowe town.

According to Jama, the suspect whose names was not disclosed was arrested and will be arraigned in court in the forthcoming days.

The incident comes barely two days after Puntland presidential guards opened fire on a vehicle on the oustkirts of Garowe town, killing an occupant of the vehicle.

According to sources, the security forces suspected the driver after the driver drove into the convoy carrying the Puntland president Saed Abdullahi Deni.

The victim who was reportedly driving the private vehicle was identified as Maryan Ahmed Mohamed

Deni was returning to Garowe town following a day long electoral campaign in Qardho town.
