Mogadishu (SD) – Puntland Military Court of Cayn and Mudug Regions on Wednesday sentenced convicted members of Al-Shabab to death.

Five members of the group have been on trial in Galkayo, the regional capital of Mudug region, for allegedly being members of Al-Shabaab, The chairman of the court told the media.

The Armed Forces Court of Ayn and Mudug regions convicted the accused of being responsible for al-Shabaab bombings and assassinations in Galkayo for the past 13 years, according to reports.

The Puntland Military Court has today concluded the hearing of the case against the accused, the chairman of the court told the media.

The court released six others, suspected of links to Al-Shabab.

Al-Shabaab militants have been wreaking havoc in Puntland for some time, killing prominent citizens.
